Research Services

Genealogy Research

Staff conducts a limited amount of research on your ancestors by request. Please make sure the person you are researching has a connection to DeKalb County, Illinois.

Property Research

Staff will conduct a limited amount of property research. Most often staff can find property abstracts and related legal documents like wills, property inventories, and affidavits dating to about 1840. Please understand that photos of homes exist only in very specific cases.

There is no charge for research time (up to one hour). Please be reasonable with your request and be specific about what you are looking for, as we do not want to duplicate your efforts. Donations for our time are always appreciated.

If you have questions concerning research, please contact us.

Copying / Scanning / Mailing Pricing

If there are fees for reproductions (images, copies, scans) and mailing charges, the Joiner History Room staff will discuss with the researcher before processing an order.
